How did you become an artist?

I can't really say. As far as I can remember, I've always had an interest in drawing and painting. I think I started doing it more regularly and “seriously” around 2017 after reading this quote “we are what we make each day” which I find very motivating.

So I've since decided to do at least one drawing and/or painting a day (whether it's a study, the start of an illustration, a sketch, a warm-up, etc.).

Where do you get inspiration?

When it comes to my original works, my inspiration comes mainly from the fantasy universe of course (Willow, Legend, The Lord of the Rings, Berserk, Record of Lodoss War, the Final Fantasy games, etc.).

But also masters like Rembrandt, Carravaggio, Velasquez, Reni, Van Dyck, Sargent, Zorn, Repin, Fechin, Frazetta, Amano, etc., especially those who mastered the art of “chiaroscuro”.

I'm also a fan of the Baroque period and, more recently, of "Hollywood glamour" photography style, besides being a big fan of anime and video games, for which I often make fan art.

What’s your hardware setup?

Wacom Intuos Pro Medium on an old Dell XPS, Intel Core I7-4790, Nvidia GTX 750 ti, 16gb Ram.

What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

Its lightness and simplicity in addition to the high quality in terms of rendering and features (I love the brush engine, creating brushes is really simple and intuitive even with the new Dual brush implementation).

I started digital painting with Photoshop at the time, so I was already a little familiar with digital art software and when I tried Manga Studio (former name of Clip Studio Paint), I immediately loved using it, especially the brushes set with "Color mixing".

How long does it take you to make a single illustration?

It depends, usually between 4 and 6 hours, sometimes it can go up to 9 hours, but always spread over several days.

How has Clip Studio Paint improved your workflow?

In many ways, whether it's its lightness (both in its overall performance and in the size of the files created), so I can launch it at any time without worrying about what other programs are running, or its ease of use, with the workspace easily adjustable.

Features like “Quick access”, which lets you create sets of brushes (or other tools and functions) from several packs without having to remove them from their original pack (or copying them), the ability to turn a brush into an eraser instantly, the recently added Liquify tool, in the shape of a brush capable of acting on several layers at the same time, is brilliant, as is the recently added timelapse function.

All this and much more has helped improve my workflow over time.

Would you like to promote some recent project?

My main project at the moment is my Patreon where I share my entire creative process with real-time and timelapse videos, clip and psd files, as well as brushes, and tips and tutorials in some packs, because most of what I've learned, I've learned it this way, watching and analyzing process videos from awesome artists.

I'm planning to create tutorials too, but there's no date set yet.
