How did you become an artist?
Hello, I am Richan and I am 22 years old. Since a young age I have always loved drawing, at the beginning doodling, then as I grew up I was influenced by manga, Disney and several cartoons from my childhood.
As soon as I was old enough my parents enrolled me in plastic arts classes for children and from time to time drawing workshops or training courses.
In high school I did a science baccalaureate with a arts option. And finally after the baccalaureate, I did a 3-year degree in comic book and illustrations!
Where do you get inspiration?
My inspirations come from different comics, mangas and cartoons. Like, ekho, witch hat atelier and the winx, with certain artists like Alessandro Barbucci, Barbara Canepa or Mirka Andolfo, as main inspirations.
I like all these references for different reasons, the color moods, the graphic style or even the story.
What’s your hardware setup?
I have a nitro Acer pc, with a XPPen artist 16 (2nd gen).
What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?
Since I discovered Clip Studio Paint, digital drawing has become much more fluid for me! To begin with, it's super optimized for the Webtoon, thanks to its different options and automatic actions.
And for illustration I love using certain brushes and actions which save me time and improve the quality of my drawings.
Finally, I recently got a portable tablet and I really like using the clip studio cloud to be able to continue drawings in progress even when I'm not at home!
How long does it take you to make a single illustration?
It depends a lot, there are times when I do inking and sometimes I use my sketch as inking !
But I would say a minimum of 5 hours until 10 hours. I have already gone beyond 20 hours in rare cases!
How has Clip Studio Paint improved your workflow?
I've been drawing digitally since I was 14, but I've been using Clip Studio Paint for 2 years and as said before, it has allowed me to really improve my digital drawing skills, thanks to the different textured and active brushes at our disposal!
Where can we follow your work?
