How did you become an artist?
As any kid out there, I really liked to just draw and create small silly art doodles, and sometimes stories too, especially romance stories! I also used to watch way too many cartoons from as many channels as I could find. Cartoon Network has always been my favorite since I was very young, and ended up doing a lot of fanarts for them too without even knowing it was called “fanart”. A personal favorite character of mine that I used to love to draw a while back, was Numbuh 4 from KND! I also absolutely loved to watch Sonic Speedpaints when younger, I watched them repeatedly, trying to draw as fast as them, I had no idea they were actually sped up haha. Then, when I was around 10 years old, I stopped drawing, for no reason really, I guess it was me growing out of it. However, when I was 12, my mom asked me, “why aren’t you drawing anymore? You used to draw all the time! What happened?” and that’s when I realized that… I had no idea what happened!! So, I immediately went back to drawing every day again, and this time, I was determined to improve and become a really good artist, since I have now seen so many artists online, especially Instagram, that were amazing! And I realized that I could do it too if I tried hard enough! And after 7- 8 long years of practice, I now finally found myself with an art style that I love, and studying animation in college! It really is an amazing experience; I love to be an artist.
Where do you get inspiration?
One word. MUSIC!
95% of my inspiration all comes from music. I listen to a song, and I immediately think about either an animation or an illustration, which is why my art tends to match so well with some songs! For example, as some of you know, Owl City is my top 1 artist to go to whenever I need inspiration. Any of his songs is amazing and helps me a lot with any art block I have! However, of course, love songs are my favorites!
And yes, the other 5% are trends, haha! I love doing trends, it reminds me of those super popular animation memes from years ago! I unfortunately never had the chance to participate in them when younger, but I’d love to do a few of my favorites in the future!
What’s your hardware setup?
I use an iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil to make my illustrations. I also bought a nice screen tablet from Huion to actually draw on a bigger screen, and also work on animations!
What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?
I love how professional it can be compared to other software, especially for those who are planning on making an indie animation one day. Such as me, hehe. I have seen so many amazing artists do amazing animations in Clip Studio Paint, which makes me sure that I can absolutely do it as well! Also, Clip Studio has amazing tools to help artists, and the community is always making more and more every day, which makes it feel like a big family because everyone is trying to help each other!
How long does it take you to make a single illustration?
It always depends on the illustration. The bigger or the more detailed it is, the longer it takes, but each full, detailed piece of mine takes at least 6+ hours to make!
How has Clip Studio Paint improved your workflow?
It has improved by allowing me to use so many other tools that a lot of other apps do not offer, for example, there is a brush that allows you to erase along your line work, which makes it a lot easier when coloring because it allows you to color like crazy, and then erasing the mistakes takes no time at all! It’s crazy to me how other apps have not yet come up with something like that, of course Clip Studio has it!! It’s amazing! Also, Clip Studio allows me to work on a bigger tablet other than just an iPad, which is absolutely fantastic because I love to work on a bigger screen!
Would you like to promote some recent project?
I have been working so very hard on finally opening a Patreon page for me. It is finally ready! And I cannot wait to post more and more art there, and watch the community grow! I hope people will like it as much as I do!
