How did you become an artist?
Like many artists, I started drawing at a young age. My mom has always been incredibly talented in crafts and art (she has a degree in Graphic Design). When I was little, she indulged my every whim, drawing whatever I asked for… until my little brother arrived, hahaha.
From that point on, I started learning on my own, with my family always encouraging me. Growing up, people around me suggested I become an architect or a designer, like my mom. I didn’t realize that art could be a career until I entered middle school and saw the animated intro for The Beatles: Rock Band. That was when it clicked, I realized someone had the job of creating THAT.
I began to see opportunities to grow as an artist in so many things—animation, book covers, video games, comics, even brand campaigns! That’s when I knew this path wasn’t just possible; it was something I truly wanted to pursue.
So even though I eventually studied design as a career, I’ve considered myself an artist from that point onward, since I’ve worked to consistently hone my abilities and weave my artistic vision into every project I’ve had the pleasure of working on.
Where do you get inspiration?
Aside from the many talented artists I admire (and Pinterest), I mostly draw inspiration from the media I love—movies, animated series, manga, and books, just to name a few. Music also plays a big role; one of my favorite hobbies is imagining fictional scenarios inspired by songs, often featuring characters from my favorite stories—or even my own!
I also find inspiration in everyday life—situations, experiences, places and the people around me.
What’s your hardware setup?
My good old college laptop (an ASUS ROG Strix), a Wacom Cintiq 13HD, and—most importantly—my 40oz tumbler filled to the top with iced tea.
What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?
Definitely the tools and assets available—both the native ones in Clip Studio Paint and those shared by other artists! As a program, it’s incredible how many features are designed specifically for artists, and the continuous development to improve it is amazing.
Whether it’s for illustration, graphic novels, webtoons, manga, or even animation, Clip Studio Paint has become a longtime favorite in the creative community—and a professional standard in many industries.
How long does it take you to make a single illustration?
All summed up, it usually takes me anywhere from 4 to 20 hours. It depends on the complexity of the illustration, and I often switch between multiple illustrations at a time.
How has Clip Studio Paint improved your workflow?
The tools and resources available in Clip Studio Paint have helped me become much more efficient with my projects. I always use it for highly detailed or long-term work because it meets all my needs and keeps my favorite tools easily accessible.
Especially for graphic novels, manga, or Webtoons, I think it’s the best program an artist can use for those types of projects.
