How did you become an artist?

I'm a Visual Communication Designer living in Chile and I've worked in the field for 9 years doing almost everything from apps, video-games, branding to animations. Until 2018 when I decided to try what I always wanted to do: draw poster films. So since then I could say that I chose the artist tag focused on illustration more than anything else.

Where do you get inspiration?

To be honest from many places: life experiences, a lot comes from music that’s the most I think cause I’m a percussionist. I used to have a band. I don’t know. I love films to death. I love reading books and comics, but I’m no great expert and still have a lot to read. It comes from everywhere.

What’s your hardware setup?

I have at the moment only a studio setup: an iMac Retina 5K 27” and an XP-PEN Artist 24 Pro for work.

What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

I really like the way the brush engine is properly tuned. I switched completely to Clip Studio Paint for inking in my daily workflow, It has a very strong performance in that particular aspect.

How long does it take you to make a single illustration?

It depends on the complexity, but something quick like a finished sketch can take 1 or a couple of hours, but a very detailed poster, commissions or a cover can take several dozens of hours.

How has Clip Studio Paint improved your workflow?

I think a couple of very simple tools have made a big impact on my work: lasso fill, alpha for instant erase, and vector layers. BIG game changers.

Would you like to promote some recent project?

For sure! We are weekly publishing “Red Hood: Outlaws” a big project comic series in collaboration between Webtoon and DC comics. So a few weeks ago we premiered the series on the app and the response has been tremendous, we are very happy with the team for the full-time year production we've been working on.
