How did you become an artist?

I'm Kaori, or Kworin! I'm 23 years old (born in 2001 for those curious), and I'm an illustrator from São Paulo, Brazil. I've always loved drawing; I was the type of kid who would draw on walls. Around the age of 10-11, I became friends with someone who drew a lot of manga, which got me interested in watching anime and drawing my favorite characters. From there, my interest in learning more about drawing grew. I received my first digital drawing tablet as a gift (which has been with me for about 10 years and is still going strong), and I started drawing more digitally. However, I also love traditional art, especially watercolor!

Later on, because of my love for drawing, I chose to major in Visual Arts to further professionalize myself. In 2020, I opened my online store selling products with my artwork like prints and stickers. In 2022, I began participating in Artist’s Alleys while also focusing more on creating content, especially for Instagram. I share tips for artists and show my daily life as an artist, and thankfully, more and more people join me on this journey!

Where do you get inspiration?

I like to say that I draw inspiration from my daily life: conversations with friends, jokes, and observing the landscapes around me. I also enjoy visiting art exhibitions and exploring a variety of artists, not just digital illustrators but also filmmakers, musicians, comic artists, and graffiti artists. I believe that having a broad repertoire provides more tools for creativity. Additionally, my artist friends are a major inspiration for me. Seeing their creative process up close, witnessing their growth and creations, motivates me to create and improve constantly!

What’s your hardware setup?

Currently, my main work tool is the Samsung Tab S6 Lite with Clip Studio Paint. For a long time, I used Photoshop on my notebook with a Wacom Intuos Pen Small tablet (which is no longer available).

What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

What I like most about Clip Studio Paint is how easy it is to find and install brushes and additional tools that greatly enhance usability during the illustration process.

How long does it take you to make a single illustration?

It really depends on the complexity of the work! For mascots or portrait commissions, it usually takes me about 2-3 hours to finish. However, creating pages for my comic was a much longer process because it required more planning and care. The entire comic, created in Clip Studio Paint, took around 5 months from sketching to completion.

How has Clip Studio Paint improved your workflow?

In addition to the millions of downloadable tools, Clip Studio Mobile is great for using on tablets and allows me to access my work from anywhere, not just on the computer. This helps me a lot because I can work outside of home in a much more practical way.
