How did you become an artist?
I remember the first time I read Comics, it blew my mind. I was a little kid and had never seen something like that until my grandmother lent me a Chilean comics series called Mampato. In those books there were a lot of educative information and entertainment stories drawn by Themo Lobos. These comic strips narrated the adventures of a children called “Mampato”, who travelled back in time through different places and eras, all with his loyal and caveman friend “Ogú”.
This moment really marked me a lot, because I found really cool that there were drawings mixed with history, so I decided that I would become an illustrator and started working towards that goal.
Where do you get inspiration?
From humor and comedy! I love to check memes, watching comedy comics, animation and everything related to make people laugh. I try to create everyday a new and funny content for my followers.
What’s your hardware setup?
I have a desktop computer. I started working with Manga Studio and later on Clip Studio Paint, which I currently use for working.
What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?
I like how Clip Studio Paint eases and simplifies the way I draw, by being really intuitive for making comics. It has tons of features that help you save time. You can tell it’s a software created for professional and amateur illustrators depending on each one’s complexity. I also like its text and layout tools.
How long does it take you to make a single illustration?
Depending if they are a commissioned illustration for the newspaper journal I usually work with, it can take me 2 or 2 days. Comedy comic strips generally take me around a full day, from idea, sketching, coloring and uploading it to my social media channels.
How has Clip Studio Paint improved your workflow?
By having special tools designed specifically for comics artists, it helps me to speed my workflow giving me more time to plan my design. It’s simply the most powerful illustration software.
