How did you become an artist?

The truth is that I have been a really introverted person during my whole life. I mean, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, but being by myself is something I have always needed. That’s how I discovered my passion for drawing, when I started watching cartoons and some anime in my free time, like Sakura Card Captor or Pokemon. I clearly remember myself copying frames from random episodes of Pichi Pichi Pitch, another anime I watched a lot when I was in school. I did it all traditionally, only with paper and some cheap pencils. Later, I got my first digital tablet, a really old Wacom model without a screen, because I wanted to achieve that clean look that only digital art has. I ended studying 2D and 3D animation and I started working immediately after I left college in an animation studio as a coloring artist. I have been working there for a year now and I have been enjoying it so far.

Where do you get inspiration?

Mostly from things I like or from other artists. When I got into college I became obsessed about developing a more Disney-cartoon style. I loved Coraline, Gorillaz, and shows like Steven Universe. Back then, these were my main inspirations and I tried so hard to draw more like that. Lately, I have been really into anime again and I think it is clearly shown in my style. I’m also playing a lot of Genshin Impact. Anyway, other than that, I got a lot of inspiration just spending time on Instagram or Twitter.

What’s your hardware setup?

I mostly use an Ipad Pro 12.9 and Procreate, but I recently got a display tablet from Huion of 22 inches and I’m liking it a lot, kinda falling in love with working in PC again thanks to that.

What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

I have never used Clip Studio until now, but so far the features that like the most are the 3D models. This is the first time I implemented 3D stuff in my drawings, but they sure are really helpful, especially for working in perspective and with backgrounds.

How long does it take you to make a single illustration?

Minimum 4-5 hours. maximum infinity haha
It depends a lot on the complexity of the drawing, especially if it is something that I have never drawn before (Because I would have to do some research and organize a moodboards with references).

Would you consider Clip Studio Paint an industry tool?

Absolutely! I work as a color artist in an animation company (Sunshine Animation) and the team that makes the background line arts works entirely in Clip Studio :)

Would you like to promote some recent project?

Nothing right now.
