Hello! My name is Liz Staley and I’m a long-time user of Clip Studio Paint (I started using the program back when it was known as Manga Studio 4!). I was a beta-tester on the Manga Studio 5 program and for Clip Studio Paint, and I have written three books and several video courses about the program. Many of you probably know my name from those books, in fact. I write weekly posts on and on CSP Tips, so be sure to come back every week to learn more Clip Studio Tips and Tricks from me!

With the exciting release of version 3.0 of Clip Studio Paint, you’re probably wondering how you can upgrade your perpetual license! Let’s go through the process in this post so that you can make the most of your Clip Studio Paint program!

Let’s get ready to draw!

Activating Perpetual License Clip Studio Paint

Once you purchase your Perpetual License, you will receive an email with an activation code to the address that you used to make your purchase. One you have received your code, head to the following link

You will need a free Clip Studio account to use your program. If you already have an account, click on “Log In”. If you do not have an account, you will need to click on “Sign Up” and create one.

Once you are logged in to your Clip Studio Account, enter your activation code into the text box and click “Submit”.

On the next screen you will see the details of the plan for this activation code. Double-check that the details are correct and click on Apply.

On the next screen click Confirm.

On the next screen there is a large button to Open Clip Studio Paint. However, if you have not already downloaded the program you will need to click on the link in the small text above the box that says “Please download the app here”.

Downloading Clip Studio Paint For The First Time

If you’re downloading the app now, click on “Please download the app here” on the screen from the previous section to launch the downloader. Your browser should automatically ask where you want to save your file and then launch the downloader. If it does not then click on the “If the download fails, please download from here” link in the box at the top of the screen.

Follow the instructions listed on the download page to finish installing the program and then launch it. You will need to sign in to your Clip Studio account during the process, after which you will be able to start using Clip Studio Paint 3.0!

Upgrading from a Previous Version of Clip Studio Paint

If you already have Clip Studio Paint installed on your computer then you can click on the “Open Clip Studio Paint” button on the screen after inputting your license number. You may see the following message from your browser, if you do click on “Open Clip Studio” to continue.

Once the Clip Studio app launches you will be prompted to log in to your account. If you do not have a free Clip Studio account you can click on the button to sign up for one.
